
Sanjoy Majumder is the managing editor and cofounder of Collective Newsroom. He is an award-winning journalist with over two decades of rich journalistic experience reporting from the UK, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, and Bangladesh. From 2005-2017, Sanjoy worked as India Correspondent at the BBC. Specialising in conflict zones and politics, he covered elections in India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan including the country’s post-Taliban reconstruction. He also covered key events such as the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh (2017) for which he won a Peabody Award. During his tenure as the Deputy Managing Editor, he oversaw the BBC’s historic and massive expansion in the Indian media market, with the launch of four new digital and television language services alongside the existing services in 2018.
