David Jordan became the BBC’s Director, Editorial Policy & Standards in
October 2007. Prior to that, he had been Controller of Editorial Policy since
December 2005 and the BBC’s Chief Adviser, Politics for the two previous
years. David is responsible for producing the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines. He
also manages the BBC’s Pronunciation Unit and its Charities’ Adviser. David became
a journalist on London Weekend Television’s political and
current affairs programme “Weekend World” in1984. He joined the BBC in
1988 and has been with the organisation ever since.
David is a member of the Executive Board of the Organisation of News
Ombudsmen. He became the Secretary General of Public Broadcasters’
International in 2021. He is also a member of the International Press Institute.
He is a Board Trustee of the BBC Pension Scheme and a member of the UK’s
Defence, Security and Media Advisory Committee.
